Jesus & Me(Part 5-Relationship)

JESUS AND ME
Topic: Relationship
TEXT: II Cor. 5:1-21

Introduction:
In part 1 through 4, I discussed the following subjects concerning companionship/Relationship,  “MY HOUSE”, “MY CLOTHES”,   “MY WALK”, and “MY APPEARANCE” As related to companionship and friendship with Jesus Christ, I know Jesus said that as Born-Again Christians
1) He will never leave us nor forsake us.
2 And also our clothes would be robes of righteousness.
3) Also my walk in life would not be a lonely one.
4) My Appearance is special.

Now as we enter into part 5, I will speak on the topic of “MY CHANGE”. This change appearance is a very special appearance attended by special people who stand before a very special Person. May we learn something concerning this appearance.

 MY CHANGE: V. 17
2 Corinthians 5:16-17 (KJV)  Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. 17Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

The views of all things had been changed, we have ceased to act under the influences which govern other men; but our own hearts have been changed, and we have become new creatures in Christ, and in our lives we evinced the spirit which should govern us who were thus renewed. I do not live for myself, I live for Him, and because He is my companion “I am a new creature”.

EXAMPLES:
Rom 12:1 (KJV)  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Rom 8:21 (KJV)  Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. (No bondage to the flesh)

Gal 2:20 (KJV) I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.   It is Jesus and me.

If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature
It is vain for a man to profess affinity to Christ according to the flesh, while he is unchanged in his heart and life, and dead in trespasses and sins; for he that is in Christ, that is, a genuine Christian, having Christ dwelling in his heart by faith, is a new creature; his old state is changed: he was a child of Satan, he is now a child of God; he was a slave of sin, and his works were death; he is now made free from sin, and has his fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. He was before full of pride and wrath; he is now meek and humble. He formerly had his portion in this life, and lived for this world alone; he now hath GOD for his portion, and he looks not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are eternal. Therefore, old things are passed away. (Barnes Notes)

Behold, all things are become new
The man is not only mended, but he is new made; he is a new creature, a new creation, a little world in himself; formerly, all was in chaotic disorder; now, there is a new creation, which God himself owns as his workmanship, and which he can look on and pronounce very good. (Barnes Notes)

Being like Jesus in relationship, companionship, and Friendship.
1 John 3:2-3 (KJV) Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 3And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.  (Pure change)

God’s changes are complete.
Christians are brand-new people on the inside. The Holy Spirit gives them new life, and they are not the same anymore. We are not reformed, rehabilitated, or reeducated—we are re-created (new creations), living in vital union with Christ. Read Col. 2:6-7 at conversion we are not merely turning over a new leaf; we are beginning a new life under a new Master. (Handbook of Bible Application.)

MORE BIBLICAL EXAMPLES COCERNING CHANGE:
Regard no one according to the flesh.
Regard not the lust of the flesh
Regard not the lust of the eye
Regard not the pride of life
The love of the Father is not in those that do the above

Galatians 2:6 (KJV)
6 But of these who seemed to be somewhat, (whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth no man’s person:) for they who seemed to be somewhat in conference added nothing to me:

Philippians 3:7-8 (KJV)
7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. 8Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

Philippians 3:12-14 (KJV)
12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. 13Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Colossians 2:11 (KJV)
11In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

Matthew 10:37-38 (KJV)
37He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

1 Timothy 5:21-22 (KJV)
21 I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.  22Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure.

CONCLUSION:
Romans 8:17 (KJV)
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
As companions and friends with Jesus Christ let us be pure, obedient, and take up our cross and follow Him as he changed us to this
course.
