Gift of Easter

The Gift Of Easter

Luke 24:6 He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you  when he was yet in Galilee,

Introduction: Easter has a lot of great things about it that mark it in our minds and hearts. But do we really remember the greatness of the gift of Easter or is it just another holiday with gifts for kids and a day off of work. Let us today unwrap the gift of Easter.

It is a Gift of Love (Love placed Him in the tomb, and Love brought Him out)

  1. A Divine Love

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

  1. A Delivering Love

Luke 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

  1. A Determined Love

Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

  1. A Demonstrative Love

John 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. 13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

  1. It is a Gift of Liberty
  2. Liberated from Sin’s Gloom

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

  1. Liberated from Satan’s Grip

Ephesians 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

  1. Liberated from Self’s Glare

Romans 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 7 For he that is dead is freed from sin. 8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

  1. Liberated from Separations Grave

Romans 6:9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.

10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

I Cor. 15:55-57 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56 sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57 but thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

III. It is a Gift of Life

  1. A Sweet Abounding Life

Psalm 16:11 Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

  1. A Satisfying Abundant Life

John 10:10… I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

  1. A Supernatural Amazing Life (Heavenly, Everlasting, Eternal)

John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
