Jesus & Me(Part 7-Relationship)

Topic: Relationship
TEXT: II Cor. 5:1-21

As we enter into part 7, concerning “MY TITLE” let us review the previous titles in Parts 1-6. I discussed the following subjects concerning companionship/friendship, “MY HOUSE”, “MY CLOTHES”, “MY WALK”, “MY APPEARANCE”, “MY CHANGE” and “MY MINISTRY”. As related to companionship and friendship with Jesus Christ, I know Jesus said that as Born-Again Christians
1) He will never leave us nor forsake us.                         2 And also our clothes would be robes of righteousness.
3) Also my walk in life would not be a lonely one.       4) My Appearance is special.
5) I am a new creature, what a change.                          6) Be part of reconciliation/witness to the world.

Now as we enter into in part 7 of the series JESUS & ME, I will speak on the topic of “MY TITLE”.  The position of an Ambassador requires me representing my country and to transact business, (From a Biblical Document point of view, the BIBLE) as a born-again Christian’s position. This is a very special position with special requirements and can only be performed correctly and effectively by two persons for it to be right, Jesus and me. The ME portion has to be obedient to the Sovereign ONE who has sent me, and that is Jesus.

I. Easton’s dictionary definition:
A diplomatic official of the highest rank, sent by one sovereign or state to another as its resident representative (ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary).
A diplomatic official of the highest rank sent by a government to represent it on a temporary mission, as for negotiating a treaty.
A diplomatic official serving as permanent head of a country’s mission to the United Nations or some other international organization.
An authorized messenger or representative.

II. Smith’s dictionary definition:
A person of high rank employed by a government to represent it and transact its business at the seat of government of some other power. The earliest examples of ambassadors employed occur in
(Numbers 20:14 ; 21:21 ; Judges 11:7-19 )

Afterwards in that of the fraudulent Gibeonites,
   (Joshua 9:4 )

And in the instances of civic strife mentioned
(Judges 11:12; Judges 20:12)

Ambassadors are found to have been employed not only on occasions of hostile challenge or insolent menace
(1 Kings 20:21 Kings 20:6 ; 2 Kings 14:8 )

But of friendly compliment, of request for alliance or other aid, of submissive deprecation and of curious inquiry.
(2 Kings 14:8 ; 16:7 ; 18:14 ; 2 Chronicles 32:31 )
Ministers are called ambassadors of Christ.

III. Strong’s Concordance Definition:
Act as a representative, dispatch as a deputy, on an errand/doer, ambassador, teacher, interpreter

2 Corinthians 5:20 (KJV) Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we prayyou in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

Who is the Ambassador?
As a born-again Christian my title is Ambassador, I am a representative of the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Lord of lords and the King of kings.  As an ambassador God hath committed unto me the word of reconciliation, which is being a witness, and it can only be effective with Jesus and me.

The apostle Paul is saying that we are to be as God or Jesus before others; and so much so, that they see His presence in us. We are to represent the intent, the ideals, and not the concessions of God. (Portion of Pastor F. L. Hoffman message)

Ephesians 6:19-20 (KJV) And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Where is the Ambassador?
Matthew 28:18-20 (KJV) And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
(You look at the world quite differently (when born-again) when you travel as a People to People Ambassador.)

Responsibility of an Ambassador:
In Matthew chapter 6, Jesus has taught us how to pray. We have read and recited his instructions, but do we really understand our ambassadorial responsibilities in these verses? Consider the following:

Matthew 6:9-15 (KJV)
We taught to pray
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. (Worship)

We are to bring the ideals of the Kingdom of God to this earth, and do our best to have them implemented. Minimally, as ambassadors we are to live these ideals as a witness to the world. (F. L. Hoffman)
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

We should ask daily for that which he can provide
11 Give us this day our daily bread.

We should forgive, forget, and let go
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

We should abstain from all appearances of evil. Confession helps us not to be lead into temptation.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

We should always focus on His sovereignty
13 For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

We should always remember His Promises, positive or negative
14 if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: (Positive)
15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. (Negative)

Others may not want to hear our words, but the picture we present of our own lives is worth a thousand words. We are to let others know of the true intent and will of God from the beginning of time until the end; it has never changed.

It is we who have changed, and it’s time that all who consider themselves God’s people begin to change back into the people God desires us to be. This is our ambassadorship! Lord, help each and every one of us to truly accept our responsibilities as your ambassadors, that others will seek you and Your Kingdom. (Pastor F. L. Hoffman)

Some Ambassadorial Activities:
Proverbs 13:17 (KJV) A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.
He that betrays the counsels of his government, or the interests of his country, will sooner or later fall into mischief; but he that
Faithfully and loyally fulfils his mission, shall produce honor and safety to the commonwealth.
(Adam Clark’s commentary) (Be faithful in lifting up God)

2 Chronicles 35:21 (KJV) But he sent ambassadors to him, saying, What have I to do with thee, thou king of Judah? I come not against thee this day, but against the house wherewith I have war: for God commanded me to make haste: forbear thee from meddling with God, who is with me, that he destroy thee not.
