PNEUMATOLOGY

DOCTRINE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (Pneumatology)

INTRODUCTION:

The Holy Spirit is a personality, the third person of the Godhead, as shown by His attributes and His works.  The Holy Spirit is the “Spirit of God” and the “Spirit of Christ”, and is able to enter your redeemed body and soul, and control your life for God’s glory and your benefit, as much of your life as you permit him to do.  The Holy Spirit has intelligence, He shows feelings, He has a will, and He is Sovereign, which means He has complete power.  Let us look at the doctrine (teaching) of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit in creation of.

THE WORLD

Gen. 1:2           “The Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters” (The Spirit of God is God at work, nothing more, nothing less)

Job 26:13         “By His Spirit He hath garnished the heavens”

THE MAN

Job 33:4           “The Spirit of God hath made me…”

Gen. 1:26         “…Let us make man is our image, after our likeness…”

Psalms 104:30 “Thou sendest forth Thy Spirit, they are created”

The Holy Spirit in providence.

The definition of the word providence means to provide for, prepare for, care for, and to guide.  Only an all-knowing, ever-present, and all-powerful God can provide for His children always, in this life and the life here-after.

Psalms 104:30 The Spirit creates

John 16:13-14 The Spirit guides, speaks, and shows, the Holy Spirit comes, He will Guide you, He will not speak of Himself, He speaks what He hears, He will show you things, He shall glorify Jesus.

The Holy Spirit And Israel.

The Holy Spirit And the world.

John 16:8-11:

Verse 8            He will reprove the world of sin, righteousness, and judgement.

Verse 9            Sin because they do not believe on Jesus Christ

Verse 10          Righteous, because I go to my Father (Acts 17:31)

Verse 11          Judgment, because Satan is judged (Acts 12:31)

The work of the Holy Spirit in the world is to “reprove”, “convict”, and “convince” the world of Sin.
